Integration
Connect DatoCMS to Blog Automation
Articles become records of a model in your DatoCMS project - with title, slug, text, summary, cover image, SEO field and date.
What you need for DatoCMS
- A DatoCMS project with a model (e.g. "Article") that has a text, Structured Text or WYSIWYG field for the article.
- Access to the project settings (API tokens).
Step by step: connect DatoCMS
- In DatoCMS open Project settings → API tokens and copy the Full-access API token (or create one with access to the Content Management API).
- In Blog Automation: Websites & blogs → Connect website → DatoCMS. Enter the token (and, for sandbox environments, the environment’s name), then click Check connection.
- Choose the model, map the fields, choose status and language and click Save.
Where do I find what in DatoCMS?
| Field in Blog Automation | Where to find it in DatoCMS |
|---|---|
| Environment (optional, empty = primary) | Sandbox environments only: their name, e.g. staging. |
| API token (full access) | Project settings → API tokens. |
What is transferred to DatoCMS?
Article text → Structured Text, a Markdown text field or WYSIWYG, cover image → a "Single asset" field (uploaded), slug → slug field, date → Date or Date time, an SEO field appears as "- Titel" and "- Beschreibung" for SEO title and meta description. Localised fields are filled in the project’s first locale.
Tips for DatoCMS
- If the model has draft mode ("Draft/published"), records are only published with "Publish immediately" - otherwise they stay drafts.
Good to know about DatoCMS
- With localised fields only the first locale is filled.
- Tables in the article become plain paragraphs in Structured Text.
