Connect Contentful to Blog Automation
Articles become entries of a content type in your Contentful space. You map the fields once: title, slug, rich text, summary, cover image, tags, SEO fields and date.
What you need for Contentful
- A Contentful space with a content type (e.g. "Blog Post") that has a rich text field for the text; for the image a "Media" field (link to asset).
- A Contentful account with write access to the space.
Step by step: connect Contentful
- In Contentful open Account (profile picture) → CMA tokens → Create personal access token, give it a name and an expiry date, and copy the token.
- Click Authorize access next to the new token and authorise it for your organisation - otherwise Contentful answers "OrganizationAccessGrantRequired".
- The space ID is under Settings → General settings.
- In Blog Automation: Websites & blogs → Connect website → Contentful. Enter space ID, environment and token, then click Check connection.
- Choose the content type, map the fields, choose status and language and click Save.
Where do I find what in Contentful?
| Field in Blog Automation | Where to find it in Contentful |
|---|---|
| Space ID | Settings → General settings, e.g. abc123xyz. |
| Environment | Usually master. Other environments are under Settings → Environments. |
| Content management token | Account → CMA tokens. Starts with CFPAT-. Shown only once. |
What is transferred to Contentful?
Title and summary → "Short text" or "Long text" fields, article text → "Rich text" (or HTML/Markdown into "Long text"), cover image → "Media" (uploaded and published as an asset), tags → "Short text, list", date → "Date & time". Values are written in the space’s default locale.
Tips for Contentful
- Pick an expiry date that suits your plans, and enter a new token in time via Enter new access.
Good to know about Contentful
- Only the default locale is filled.
- Tables in the article become plain paragraphs in rich text.

Frequently asked questions about Contentful
The check reports 401 "OrganizationAccessGrantRequired".
The token has not been authorised for your organisation yet. Click Authorize access next to the token under CMA tokens and check again.
"There is no content model in this Contentful space yet"
Create a content type under Content model (e.g. "Blog Post") and check again.
"Contentful did not process the image in time"
Contentful was slow at that moment. Blog Automation retries automatically later.
