How to build your content calendar
- Decide when you want to start publishing.
- Pick the weekdays. One or two posts a week is a good start for most businesses.
- Add your topics, one per line. If you need ideas, try the blog topic generator.
- Download the plan as CSV or ICS.
The CSV file opens in Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets. It has columns for keyword, status, owner and notes. You import the ICS file into Outlook, Google Calendar or Apple Calendar, and every post shows up as an event.
Why a fixed rhythm helps
A blog works over months. If you publish at the same time every week, planning is easier, the work is spread across the team and nobody has to write three posts in one night. Twelve weeks is long enough for a real rhythm and short enough to plan again after a quarter.
Frequently asked questions
How often should a company blog publish?
Regularity matters more than volume. One good post a week or every two weeks is realistic for most small and medium businesses.
How do I import the ICS file into Outlook?
Open the file with a double click, or choose "Add calendar" and then "From file" in Outlook. The events appear in a calendar of their own.
Can I change the template later?
Yes. The CSV file is a normal spreadsheet you can change as you like. If you prefer to plan in a calendar right away, Blog Automation has its own content calendar.
