Integration
Connect HubSpot to Blog Automation
Articles appear as posts on your HubSpot Content Hub blog - with title, text, featured image, tags, summary, page title and meta description.
What you need for HubSpot
- A HubSpot account with a blog (Content → Blog; the free Content Hub includes one).
- Super admin access, or permission to create service keys or private apps.
Step by step: connect HubSpot
- In HubSpot open Settings (gear icon) → Integrations → Service keys and click Create service key.
- Under Scopes select
content,files.readandfiles.writeand save. - Copy the key (it starts with
pat-). - In Blog Automation: Websites & blogs → Connect website → HubSpot. Paste the key and click Check connection.
- Choose the blog, status, default category and language, then click Save blog.
Where do I find what in HubSpot?
| Field in Blog Automation | Where to find it in HubSpot |
|---|---|
| Service key or app token | HubSpot → Settings → Integrations → Service keys. Starts with pat- (e.g. pat-eu1-…). Older accounts: a private app token. |
What is transferred to HubSpot?
Title → title, slug → URL, article text → body, summary → summary, cover image → featured image (stored in the file manager), tags → blog tags (missing ones are created), SEO title → page title, meta description → meta description.
Tips for HubSpot
- New HubSpot accounts no longer offer private apps - the service key is the way to go there. Older accounts can keep using a private app token (Private apps → Create a private app, same scopes).
- Accounts in the EU data centre work the same way.
Good to know about HubSpot
- A post is first created as a draft and, with "Publish immediately", pushed live right afterwards.
Frequently asked questions about HubSpot
"The HubSpot key is missing permissions"
Open the service key and add the scopes "content", "files.read" and "files.write".
"There is no blog in this HubSpot account yet"
Create a blog under Content → Blog and check again.
"The key is not right"
Service keys and app tokens start with "pat-". A developer API key or client secret will not work.
