Connect Webhook to Blog Automation
Every article is sent as JSON to your HTTPS address - for Zapier, Make, n8n, Pipedream or your own system. It contains title, HTML, Markdown, summary, tags, image link, SEO fields and date.
What you need for Webhook
- An HTTPS address that accepts POST requests with JSON (port 443 or 8443).
Step by step: connect Webhook
- In Zapier, Make, n8n or your system create a webhook trigger ("Catch Hook", "Custom webhook") and copy its HTTPS address.
- In Blog Automation: Websites & blogs → Connect website → Webhook. Enter the address, optionally a signing secret or your own header; for a test tick Send a test request when checking.
- Click Check connection.
- Adjust the JSON template if your system expects other field names, choose status and language and click Save.
Where do I find what in Webhook?
| Field in Blog Automation | Where to find it in Webhook |
|---|---|
| Webhook address (HTTPS) | The address of your webhook trigger. It is treated like a password. |
| Signing secret (optional) | A secret of your own (at least 16 characters). Every request then carries the X-BA-Signature header (HMAC-SHA256). |
| Own header - name (optional) | E.g. Authorization. |
| Own header - value (optional) | E.g. Bearer …. |
What is transferred to Webhook?
The JSON template decides what is sent. Placeholders: {{title}}, {{slug}}, {{html}}, {{markdown}}, {{excerpt}}, {{tags}}, {{tags_csv}}, {{image_url}}, {{seo_title}}, {{meta_description}}, {{date}}, {{status}}, {{language}}, {{id}}, {{remote_id}}, {{event}}, {{update}}. A value that consists of just one placeholder keeps its type (e.g. a list for tags).
Tips for Webhook
- If your system answers with
{ "id": …, "url": … }, Blog Automation links the article and sends the id as{{remote_id}}on later changes. - The
eventfield tellsarticle.publishedandarticle.updatedapart.
Good to know about Webhook
- HTTPS only, on ports 443 and 8443; internal addresses are not allowed.
- What happens to the article is up to your system - "draft" is only the value of
{{status}}.
Frequently asked questions about Webhook
"The webhook address points to an internal network"
The address must be reachable from the internet. Internal IP addresses and localhost are refused for security reasons.
How do I verify the signature?
Compute HMAC-SHA256 with your signing secret over <t>.<body> (t from the header) and compare it with the sha256= value in X-BA-Signature.
