Connect SFTP to Blog Automation
Blog Automation uploads every article as a finished HTML page with its cover image to your web space - with its own styling, page title, meta description and social media preview.
What you need for SFTP
- Web space with SFTP or SSH access (e.g. STRATO, IONOS, all-inkl).
- A user name and password, or a private key (OpenSSH).
Step by step: connect SFTP
- Look up the SFTP/SSH credentials (server, user, password) at your web host.
- In Blog Automation: Websites & blogs → Connect website → SFTP. Enter server, port, user, password or key and the target folder.
- Click Check connection and compare the server fingerprint shown, if your host publishes it.
- Enter the address at which the folder is reachable on the web, choose file name and language and click Save.
Where do I find what in SFTP?
| Field in Blog Automation | Where to find it in SFTP |
|---|---|
| Server | Server name without sftp://, e.g. ssh.strato.de. |
| Port | Usually 22. |
| User | Your SFTP user name at the host. |
| Folder on the server | Target folder relative to the start folder, e.g. htdocs/blog. |
| Public address of this folder | The folder’s public address including https://, e.g. https://www.your-company.com/blog. |
Tips for SFTP
- With "/article-slug/ (folder with index.html)" articles get clean addresses without
.html.
Good to know about SFTP
- Articles are always published - SFTP has no drafts.
- Plain FTP is not offered because it sends the password unencrypted.
- Blog Automation does not build an index page or navigation for the articles.
Frequently asked questions about SFTP
The check reports a changed fingerprint.
The server presents a different key than on the first connection. Ask your host whether the server has moved before entering the access again.
"Please enter a password or a private key"
One of the two is required. For a key with a passphrase, enter that as well.
